MASA 2018: Official list of groups selected for the MASA Festival
The Selection Committee of the MASA 2018 met for a second time in Abidjan on December 19th, 2017 to select the groups that will participate in the MASA FESTIVAL 2018. 187 applications were received at the MASA office through the Post Office, the MASA website or directly dropped by applicants.
Materials arrived from the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Cape Verde, Central Africa, Colombia, Comoros, Congo Brazzaville, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, France, Gabon, Germany, Ghana, Guadeloupe, Guinea Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Japan, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Mexico, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Senegal, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, Chad, Togo, Tunisia, USA, Zimbabwe…
At the end of the deliberations, the Committee released the selected groups according to the following:
- 44 in Music;
- 18 in Dance,
- 10 in Theater;
- 05 in Storytelling;
- 02 in Standup Comedy;
- 04 in Streets arts
- 01 in Slam
Overall, 101 groups including 13 from Côte d’Ivoire.
The General Management of MASA thanks all the candidates for the interest they have shown in MASA and congratulates the selected groups. Their performances will schedule during the MASA activities.
The 10th edition of MASA, which will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the MASA, will take place from 10 to 17 March 2018 in Abidjan on the theme: Which business models for the performing arts? Groups, Concert halls and festivals.
A round table discussion with key witnesses will highlight the issues and background behind the creation of the MASA in 1993.
