MASA 2018: Official list of groups selected for the market

The meeting of the International Artistic Committee (IAC) of the MASA 2018 was held in Abidjan from September 27 to 30 September 30, 2017. 677 applications were received at the MASA office through the Post Office, the MASA website or directly dropped by applicants.

Materials arrived from the following countries: South Africa, Algeria, Germany, Bahrein, Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Cape Verde, Central Africa, Colombia, Comores, Congo Brazzaville, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Spain, Ethiopia, France, Gabon, Ghana, Guadeloupe, Guinea Bissau, Equatoriale Guinea, Guyana, Haïti, Mauritius, Jamaica, Japan, Madagascar, Mali, Morroco, Mauritania, Mexico, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Suisse, Tanzania, Tchad, Togo, Tunisia, USA, Zimbabwe…

At the end of the deliberations, the International Artistic Committee released the names of the groups which will perform in the MASA IN for the next edition.

– 20 groups in Music;

– 8 in Dance,

– 8 in Theater;

– 8 in Storytelling;

– 10 in Stand up Comedy;

– 7 in Streets arts

– 3 in Slam

Overall, 64 groups including 11 from Côte d’Ivoire will perform in the official selection.

The MASA General Management recalls that a MASA Festival program is planned. Some of the groups selected for the MASA Festival will have access to the show-cases that will be scheduled during the MASA.
The 10th edition of MASA, which will coincide with the 25th anniversary of Masa, which will take place from 10 to 17 March 2018 in Abidjan on the theme: Which business models for the performing arts? Groups, Concert halls and festivals. A round table discussion with key witnesses will highlight the issues and background behind the creation of Masa in 1993.
